RapidHeat Heater Review: Is This Plug-in Heater Worth It?

By the RapidHeat Review editorial team · Updated 11 October 2026 · Based on research, not hands-on testing

The RapidHeat Heater is a small ceramic heater that plugs straight into a wall socket. It is meant to warm the one room you are actually using, such as a home office, bedroom or spare room, rather than the whole house. We read the seller's specifications, did the running-cost maths and compared it with other ways to heat a room. Here's what we found.

Key takeaways

  • A compact plug-in ceramic heater with thermostat, timer, remote and overheat protection (seller-stated).
  • Best for warming one small room — the seller suggests up to about 12 m².
  • Costs about 27p–41p an hour at full power on a 27p/kWh tariff; no electric heater makes electricity cheaper.
  • From £49.95 with free tracked UK delivery and a 30-day money-back guarantee (per seller).

Our verdict in brief

On paper, RapidHeat looks like a convenient, low-fuss way to take the chill off a small room. It has the features you'd expect from a good plug-in heater: a thermostat, a timer, a remote and overheat protection. Two caveats, though. It can't make electricity cheaper than any other electric heater does, and several bold marketing claims (heating speed, "energy efficiency" figures, bill savings) are not backed by published test data.

Good fit if you…

  • want to warm one small room for a few hours
  • work from home and don't want to heat the whole house
  • want something with no installation that moves between rooms

Look elsewhere if you…

  • need to heat a large or poorly insulated room
  • want to replace your main heating
  • need a heater rated for bathroom use

How does the RapidHeat Heater work?

RapidHeat is a ceramic fan heater. Electricity passes through a ceramic heating element, and a small fan blows air across it and out into the room. Ceramic elements warm up quickly and the moving air spreads heat faster than a passive radiator, which is why fan heaters tend to feel warm sooner close by.

You plug it into a standard UK socket, choose a temperature on the touch panel or remote, and the thermostat is designed to throttle back once that temperature is reached. The seller says the room "feels warm in about 5 minutes". That is a marketing claim we could not verify, and in practice it will depend heavily on the room.

Features and what they mean in practice

Adjustable thermostat

This is the most useful feature for running costs. A heater without one runs flat out until you switch it off, while a thermostat lets it ease off once the room is warm.

Remote control and timer

Being able to adjust it from the sofa or bed is handy, especially since the heater sits low on the wall. The timer helps you avoid leaving it running by accident.

Overheat protection and auto shut-off

This is a standard and important safety feature on modern heaters. We could not find published certification documents, so we suggest you treat the seller's safety claims as claims rather than verified facts. Never leave any heater unattended around young children or pets.

Wall-socket design

Because it plugs straight in, there's no cable to trip over. The trade-off is that its height and position depend on where your sockets are, which is usually low on the wall.

"Antimicrobial" air filter

The seller says a built-in filter helps trap dust. We found no independent data on how well it works, so we wouldn't buy it as an air purifier.

Who should consider it

Home workers, people who spend evenings in one room, and anyone with a cold spare room or small bedroom who doesn't want to run the boiler for the whole house.

Who may need a different solution

If you need to heat a large open-plan space or keep a room warm all day, or you need a heater rated for wet rooms, an oil-filled radiator, a wall-mounted panel heater or your central heating may serve you better.

RapidHeat Heater running costs

A heater's running cost depends on just three things: power (kW) × hours × your unit rate. No brand can change that. Using the seller-stated power and a 27p per kWh rate as an example (check your own bill for your exact rate):

SettingPer hour4 hours/day4 h/day for 30 days
Low (~1.0 kW)27p£1.08£32.40
High (~1.5 kW)40.5p£1.62£48.60

These are full-power, worst-case estimates, not measured results. The seller's marketing mentions "£0.22 per day", but we could not find the usage assumptions behind that figure.

Work out your own estimate

Per day
£1.62
Per week
£11.34
Per 30 days
£48.60

Calculation: 1.5 kW × 4 h × 27p = £1.62 per day. This is a worst-case estimate with the heater drawing full power the whole time. A thermostat that cycles off once the room is warm would lower it, but by how much depends on your room. We have not measured it.

How RapidHeat compares with other heating options

We compare general heater types rather than named rival brands, using the same criteria for each. Every electric heater is close to 100% efficient at turning electricity into heat, so the differences lie in how the heat is delivered.

RapidHeat Heater FAQs

Is RapidHeat a scam?

We found no evidence that RapidHeat is a scam. The UK seller lists GBP pricing, free tracked delivery and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Some marketing claims could not be verified.

Does RapidHeat really cost 22p a day?

Only for short use. At 27p per kWh, 22p buys about 0.8 kWh — roughly half an hour on the 1.5 kW setting at full power. We could not verify the assumptions behind the seller's figure.

How does the RapidHeat Heater work?

It is a compact plug-in ceramic heater. Electricity heats a ceramic element and a small fan moves the warm air into the room. A built-in thermostat is designed to cut back the heat once your chosen temperature is reached.

How much does RapidHeat cost to run in the UK?

On a 27p per kWh rate, full power costs about 27p an hour on the low setting (about 1.0 kW) and about 41p an hour on the high setting (about 1.5 kW). Thermostat cycling can lower real-world costs, but we have not measured this.

Does RapidHeat save money on energy bills?

Every electric heater turns electricity into heat at essentially the same efficiency, so RapidHeat does not make electricity cheaper. It may reduce your total spend only if heating one small room replaces running central heating for the whole house. That depends on your home and tariff.

Is the RapidHeat Heater worth buying?

It may suit someone who wants to warm a small room, such as a home office or bedroom, for short periods. It is not a replacement for whole-home heating, and some marketing claims could not be independently verified.

What size room can RapidHeat heat?

The seller says one unit comfortably covers a room of up to about 12 m². We have not tested this, and results depend on insulation, draughts and ceiling height.

Where can I buy the RapidHeat Heater in the UK?

Through the official seller website, getrapidheat.co.uk. At the time of writing it lists free tracked UK delivery and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Is RapidHeat safe to use in a bathroom?

The seller suggests bathroom use, but we could not find a published IP (water resistance) rating. In the UK, plug-in heaters should not be used near baths or showers unless they are rated for it. Check with the seller before using one in a bathroom.

Final verdict

RapidHeat is a sensibly equipped plug-in ceramic heater for warming one small room. Its value depends on how you use it. As a targeted top-up that saves you heating the whole house, it makes sense. As a "bill-slashing" miracle, it doesn't, because no electric heater is. With a 30-day money-back guarantee, the risk of trying it is fairly low.
